Gosh, I guess I've taken a summer hiatus from blogging. But the time away from the computer has been well spent. Lots of fun with our children outside, and small trips to the flea markets and thrift stores.
These are some recent finds along the way...
Vintage seam binding in soft blue and champage gold:
Adorable embroidered teacup and vintage doilies:
Sleek white gloves from the past...
This vintage china doll was such a great find from Ebay. I love how she is half completed. You can guess I've got plans for her....
I've got plans for many of these lovely treasures, but for now the summer beckons.
Hope you're enjoying some fun flea markets in the great outdoors!

Seaside Ideas
Well friends, Tone Finnanger has done it again. She's come out with a new book called "Tilda's Seaside Ideas" with delightful creations for a seaside retreat. I adore the colors she uses in this small book - soft blue, gray, white and sand. Since our home is just a mile from the Atlantic ocean, I enjoy creating a nautical-inspired decor in the summertime. This book is filled with great ideas!
A 'seaside corner' has already been established in our living room. Take a peek...
These whales were made from patterns in the book:
I couldn't stop at making just one. My daughter requested the larger size with striped fabric, and I kept on making more in my favorite blue and white palette...
Seashells and the book "A Gift from the Sea" (listed in my Etsy store along with this crochet piece) enhance the vignette.
A seashell wreath I made several years ago completes the seaside corner:
Nearby I added this large vintage bowl scored at my local thrift store. I love the floral pattern!
Here is the cover of my Tilda book:
Soothing, seaside cottage feel inside its' pages...
Next I would love to make this sailboat applique onto a white coverlet. I'll have to wait when my time allows such an ambitious project:
I'll leave you with a collection of seashells on our mantel. Hope you're enjoying your summer and it includes a visit to the sea, listening to the soothing sound of the waves!

Roses
Our New Dawn climbing rose bush has been blossoming the past 2 weeks and it is glorious! We planted this bush on a trellis along our back fence, hoping to train it to grow more horizontally. Well, it certainly has a mind of its' own. I will definitely be pruning it this fall:
The two dilapidated old wicker chairs prevent kids from going near its' thorny branches.
Of course these pretties needed to be showcased in delicate vases...
Our Blessed Mother and her frequent companion, the rose:
Enjoy your holiday week my friends!
