I was inspired to make these slipcovers after admiring those found in the 'Romantic Prairie Style' book, from Lisa and Rich Adkins' home. I like the ability to take them off for washing. Here are the inspiration chairs:
That book offers hours of delighting in each detail. Sigh..
My summer pillow fits comfortably:
Not having the budget to use a vintage monogrammed French sheet to cover the chairs, I personalized them with our children's initials:
Although the dark linen fabric I originally covered the chairs in was functional for 5 years, it was time for a change - don't you think?
wrinkled, stained(?) and dark - gasp! |
Hope to see you there!

ok...without a DOUBT...you MUST open up an ETSY shop to sell your gorgeous creations! truly..you have an eye for beauty and detail and such talent in your fingertips! it's TIME mon amie! (maybe when the kids head back to school??) That chair is dreamy!
You did a beautiful job, Susan! I think the nail tacks are the perfect touch! I love that book, too, and never tire of looking at it. I'm so happy you were inspired to make something so pretty!
XO,
Jane
Nice work!! I like the way the seat covers tie on and off with out a lot of fuss in order to keep them looking good. Around here there's fur and dog drool when Buster comes for a visit! ♥♫
Your chair transformation is a delight for the eyes. I especially love how you embroidered it with your children's initials.

You gave that chair a beautiful new vibe.
I can't tell you how much I love your chair!! the nailed on trim is so charming, but my favourite part is your own french monogram on the seat - perfect! :)
Wow, it's beautiful! I just love your chair transformation!
hugs, Cheryl
This is stunning! And, putting your children's initals on it is the sweetest touch ever :D

Just beautiful! Great job! i love this corner vignette too!
I love the chair. I have two similar chairs my Mom left me, and haven't been able to decide what to do with them, Thanks for the inspiration.

Great job! Love the nail studded back, and using a slipcover for the seat is so smart. Washable, and that is a Good Thing with white!
Lovely.

This chair is beautiful! I also love the look of your blog in general. Very clean.
Your chair's "new" look is perfect! I especially like the little hint of red with the initials - so sweet and timeless!
BEAUTIFUL!! I recently did my first slipcover project...and the chairs are almost identical to yours! Yours, however, are painted white (Oh...I love the white!)...I really love your ruffled/ tied on solution...and the nailheads. Genius!
