For Vintage Inspiration Friday, I thought I'd share recent shelves from the flea market. In this post I showed you the first of these shelves purchased as part of a pair. I love the chippiness and lighter color of the other shelf in the pair. It was in two pieces - a bulky bottom and top piece that served as sort of a backsplash. I was particularly drawn to this smaller top piece which justified the entire bargain purchase of $20.
Here is the top piece placed on our dining room buffet:
I adore its' patina:
It is temporarily resting on two candlestick holders until I decide on a permanent location. I think the shelf helps to tone down the formality of the buffet:
A rustic basket and grain sack help to further balance the look:
Hmmm...now what to do with the bulky bottom piece of the shelf? I love it, but just haven't found an ideal place for it and it is heavy.
This is an enjoyable transition time between summer and fall. Possibilities await....
Have a terrific weekend!

This is a beautiful piece of wood shelving and the huge shelf is gorgeous. I like what you did with the smaller piece on your pretty sideboard. Very nice! ~ Pamela
oh susan....what finds! i wouldn't change a thing! I LOVE the way the shelf looks on top of those candlesticks! It's beautiful..truly! As for what to do with that "bulky" bottom piece.....hmmmmmmm...drop it off here! :)
Love these pieces. you're right the patina is just incredible and how you've used this on candlesticks is really wonderful. LOVE it! The mirror is gorgeous, too. thanks so much for linking up with VIF, xoxo Debra
Loving the whites and dark pieces together; this is how I want to decorate my spaces. Thanks for sharing a pretty post.
Lovely setting Susan and i love love that mirror!
Everything looks great and I'm sure your bulky shelf will find its rightful home soon... just don't forget to share!
Looking good Susan!
The bulky piece might add some architectural interest if you invert it atop another piece of furniture...just an idea!
LOVING your new "old" shelves! They are gorgeous! I LOVE that bulky bottom piece too!! :)
