Arm Knitting and Winter Styling

Happy New Year friends!  We are back to the books with homeschooling these days, but I wanted to pop over here at the blog and share some winter prettiness.  I mentioned in my previous 'Christmas home tour' posts how much I've enjoyed decorating with yarn this year.  After taking all the Christmas-specific decorations down, I purposely left up all the yarn.  Anything knitted, crocheted or felted makes for a warm and cozy atmosphere.

I had created this pom-pom wreath over our mantel for Christmas, and just left it up after taking off some festive ribbon.

One activity I've been enjoying lately is arm-knitting.  Have you heard of it?  You knit with your arms instead of needles.  I got this book by Anne Weil several months ago and just love it.  You can find it at her Etsy shop here or on Amazon.

I'm crazy about the infinity cowls in this book ...

...and this scarf is magnificent!

I stumbled upon arm-knitting a couple of years ago at this fabulous website:
www.simplymaggie.com
I have made several cowls using her easy tutorials, and they are a big hit as gifts.

Another piece I'm crazy about lately is the chunky throw.  I knitted this throw for our sofa and it just took a couple of weeks, finding free time here and there.

I used 3 strands of yarn held together for each stitch and size 50 knitting needles found on Etsy.  It was a simple knit 4/purl 4 pattern I found here.

I love having knitting projects nearby, like these two long scarfs in the bowl.

One of the projects I tackled from Ms. Weil's book was this pillow cover:

It took no time at all, and makes a nice graphic statement in our living room.

Other winter elements added to our living room are these birch logs and driftwood at the fireplace:

The mantel shelf has felted wool pieces, such as this sheep I made to look like a vintage putz sheep...

...and this little felted wreath I found at the Nesting store last year:

Hope you are all staying cozy this January!
