Gifts - Handmade and from Nature

Happy New Year friends!  I enjoy reading many of your posts, which reflect on the adventures of 2012 while looking ahead to a fresh start in 2013.  It's satisfying to look back with gratitude and make positive plans for a fresh start in 2013.  This Christmas season has been a great blessing to our family because it allowed so many days all together - playing, taking walks, visiting others, sledding, praying and laughing.  I will cherish these days.

Now my mind is focusing on what to create next.  I've got ideas swirling around & jotted down on note paper.  Fresh ideas...just needing to come to fruition.
In the meantime, I'm sharing some gifts I gave to family at Christmas.  I can show these now after they've been received.
My younger sister is a big Jane Austen fan.  She received this bag I made, using a tutorial over at Dear Lillie.    Don't you just love Jennifer's tutorials over there?
Instead of putting the silhouette on a pillow, I used a cotton tote bag from the craft store.

The gift tag was pretty easy to make, too, simply attaching the black paper silhouette onto card stock I tore at the edges.

My step-mother admires Scandinavian artistry, so I made her this embroidered sachet.

I stitched the 'God Jul' to mimic the lovely script on this postcard designed by Heather of Audrey Eclectic Folk Art.

Now I'll leave you with some photos we took of our home decorated with the beauty of nature's snow.

I can endure January when it looks this pretty...but talk to me again in March and I'll be pining for spring.  :)

Oh my! This made my heart skip a beat! What a gorgeous tiny jewel of a house you live in! We don't have houses like yours over here, and in my mind, I've always imagined the "just perfect" dollshouse like that! Fabulous! And thank you so much for sharing!

Hi, I just hopped over from another blog as your picture of the bag interested me. What a good idea and it looks easy enough for even me to make! I look forward to learning more from you this year. Joan
