Tour of Living Room

Hello friends!  I'm so excited to see all the creating going on in blogland.  Since I've also been creating for my Etsy shop, I feel as though my home has been a bit neglected.  But I've finally found time to put some finishing touches in our living room.  Hope you enjoy this tour...there are a lot of photos!

The view upon entry:

I finally hung this flea market shelf I acquired in July, and have since painted:

The dried hydrangeas are still pretty:

Layering a flea market embroidered tablecloth on the couch adds some interesting texture:

A peak over the chair into the far corner:

Couldn't help but start adding some early Christmas sparkle on the desk:

I've never shown this before in a post - our media cabinet.  It is on the left as you enter the room, and is quite large.  I've had this for over 10 years, and have always loved the architecture of it.  It is dark, but that offers a nice contrast with all the white (so I tell myself):
(subwoofer thing hidden by blanket underneath)

At the front of the room near the doorway you'll find a favorite shelf and old barn window:

Closer look...

Moving along...turning right upon entry is the fireplace wall.  Yes, the bricks are quite red.  No, I'm not allowed to paint them white:

An original door from our house was brought up from the basement and leaned here.  I can't wait to put a Christmas wreath on it:

The heart displayed at top is available in my Etsy store, crafted from vintage French book pages:

The white buffet...

My dear flea market Blessed Mother statue is now wearing white Rosary beads I received as a child:

Lastly...the mantel:

Hope you enjoyed the tour.  Let me just be real for a minute - in order to obtain the above photos...magic marker 'art' was cleaned off wall, crumbs were vacuumed, tons of books/magazines were 'hidden', toy kitchen was brought out of room, and miscellaneous toys were all temporarily removed.
This somewhat pristine view above lasted for about an hour.  :)

This room is just beautiful. Of course I do love all the whites and how you use them, great textures. I too have a dark piece that holds our tv and I will probably never paint the original pine. I have to agree that it does give the eye a rest from looking at all of my whites.

Good idea keeping the media cabinet dark, anchors the room & keeps all the white from just floating.
Your room is fresh and lovely.

You make me smile...I always postpone pictures until I have made a clean sweep of a room!

Your living room is beautiful...so large! Mine is very small and tight. I envy you. Love all of your shelves with their collections. And your armoire is very nice...a nice contrast as you say!

Thanks so much for sharing! :-)

Jane

Wow, oh, wow! Your living room is totally gorgeous, Susan! I love all of the special touches you've added, and the blue and white colors scheme is perfection! The shelves, white painted furniture, and mercury glass are meant for each other! And thanks for keeping it real and telling us the behind the scenes scoop!!
Oh, and I want you to redecorate my house while you are at it:)

Pretty room. I, too, have a red brick fireplace, but it is more than 6 1/2 feet wide, at least 24" deep, and goes all the way to the ceiling. It is an ugly monster, but I am seriously thinking of painting. I can do it since my husband is no longer living--otherwise I'd never be able to do it.♥♫

Can I ever see enough white? Nope. Love it!

Susan, what a gorgeous room...and so huge too! You've added beautiful touches everywhere and I especially fancy that chenille cover spread on your couch. It adds just the right texture. Love your style! Thanks for keeping it real about all you had to remove for the pic. Gives hope to the rest of us. lol

If I lived on my own I would love to have an all white room, but with my family it just wouldn't fly. Your living room is lovely, and I'm glad to know it is 'lived in'! I'm sure most others do the same thing, pick stuff up, before a home photo shoot. Whether they want to admit it or not ; )

Your home is just beautiful Susan and I love your *disclaimer*...so true and so real!! There is only hubby and I here now and I am amazed how fast it can get so cluttered!! I call it the "creative process". :)

Ohhhh, everything is so pretty! One of the things that struck me the most was the little white heart. So simple, but it makes such a statement. And, i like the armoire dark, it is a beautiful piece of furniture! The contrast is cool. Thanks for the wonderful tour!
